Relativity
This is a note to future self. Every situation is relative, everything depends on context, hence everything can be swayed with WILL POWER. Example: “Okay just let me peep my foot out from under the covers OMFG it is so cold how is my body supposed to withstand this weather I will definitely get a cold and then I’ll be sick for a long time and that’s no good so I’ll just stay here for a bit longer mmm” NO. IT IS NOT COLD. RELATIVE TO THE SPACE UNDER YOUR BLANKET, IT SEEMS COLD. AND YOU JUST WOKE UP SO YOU’RE NOT USED TO THAT. GET UP. YOU WILL SURVIVE. Example: “I don’t need to do this right now I am really happy with my life and that overarching happiness is so prevalent a late assignment won’t interfere you know what I don’t care about my grades life is hedonistic so go ahead and daydream all you want clouds unicorns glitter parties” NO NO NO NO. PERHAPS YOU THINK YOU ARE HAPPY. BUT ONCE THE NIGHT IS OVER AND YOU REALIZED ALL THE TIME YOU’VE WASTED DOING NOTHING YOUR TEMPORARY HAPPINESS WILL BE RELATIVELY MINUSCULE COMPARED TO THE AMOUNT OF TERROR DOOM AND DREAD TO ENSUE. GET REAL. Example: “This is the one exception” EVERYTHING HAS CONSEQUENCES. Example: “I don’t care” STOP MAKING EXCUSES. Example: “Let’s call this an educational experiment” THERE IS NO UNDO BUTTON. Life is not discrete. There are the terms, today, tomorrow, now, later, past, present, future, but there is no way to rip one from the other, to separate what is fundamentally one large entity. Think of relativity. Understand that there are relationships between everything. If you can’t see it, it does not mean it’s not there. That’s like closing your eyes and thinking nobody can see you. Your thoughts do not dictate this universe. The only thing they are capable of dictating is yourself. So get a grip, use those thoughts to better your lifestyle and look forward to how relatively happier you will become.
