On Opportunity Cost
Stumbling upon tumblr and making YUCK?, I have withstood the opportunity cost of reading chapter 11 of Mankiw for Economics, finishing chapter 4 of Arráncame La Vida for Español, and sleeping early.
To master the skillful art of procrastination is no easy task. One can only proclaim such after ticking off the following requirements:
- One indulges in multiple doses of the activity on a daily basis
- One genuinely enjoys the activity (initial guilt-trips and later migraines included)
- One has practiced the activity for an elongated period of time as to developing distinctive psychological capabilities (the subconcious negligence of guilt-trips and migraines)
- One finds oneself engaging in the activity without previous plans to do so
- One is engaging in the activity right now
I daresay I am not proud of my *coughaddictioncough* to procrastinating, but at least I have embraced myself and come to terms with it. Nobody is perfect. Someday in the near future, with the arrival of adulthood and responsibility, I will learn to quit by disciplining myself with the stick.
But as for these lazy days of youth, you know what they say. ¡Viva la vida!
